Central Saint Martins Pavilion

Location: Central Saint Martins, King’s Cross, London

Year: 2018/19

Photography: NiNN

Both Ash and Rubén have been studio leaders at Central Saint Martins. With a collective teaching experience of 10 years.

NiNN used this experience as a platform to guide students in a self build pavilion for the end of year shows ’18 & ’19. A collaborative effort between CSM & NiNN, the exhibition space was designed to be flexible, reusable and easily modified to evolve year on year.

Centred around a courtyard, each studio was given a space to exhibit, with the central structure acting as gateway to their works. The pavilion itself centres around congregation spaces and interesting meandering circulations.

The entire project was built by the students, using NiNN’s architecture background to work out tricky CNC joints to form roofscapes and walls.

The pavilion was re-used to host the ‘Turbulent times’ exhibition in 2020.
